Lola is a walnut Fauteuil à la Reine from the Regènce period in France (1715–1723). The front side of Lola is upholstered with a new fabric, Lamba from Osborne & Little. An embroidered strip from Uzbekistan is attached to the backrest of the chair. This strip is a good example of specialized and detailed embroidery. The back of the chair is covered with an Uzbek suzani with bright colors. The suzani shows flowers and a bird. The bird motif represents a creature bridging the real and mythic worlds. Most people believe that the flower motifs are symbols of fertility and prosperity.
