Peacock belongs to a set of two identical chairs. Peacock is a Louis XV style fauteuil à la Reine from the 20th century. The front side of Peacock is upholstered with a new fabric, Lamba from Osborne & Little. The back of the chair and the elbow-rests are covered with an Indian fabric with bright colors. The fabric shows flowers, a horse and a peacock. Peacocks have been a symbol of wealth, beauty and rebirth since ancient time and a symbol of dangerous pride as well. In India, where peacocks originally come from, they were a symbol of royalty. Indian servants used peacock feathers to cool down their masters.
