Chair Violet Victoria belongs to a set of two identical late Gustavian Swedish chairs from the first half of 1800. It has a curved back with vertical slats and a rectangular backrest. The chairs are adjusted to MOMIQ design. The front has been upholstered with a purple/blue suzani fabric. Suzanis are embroidered pieces of cloth made in the region of Central Asia. They are an important part of a girl’s dowry and are also used for decorative purposes in Central Asian households. The suzani used for chair Violet Victoria shows flower motives. Most people believe that the flower motives are symbols of fertility and prosperity. A new fabric Cosma from GP & J Baker with a velvet animal print has been used for the backrest of the chair.
