Babor is a name of Turkish origin and means ‘tiger’

After the sober 1940s, there was a return to economic prosperity and optimism in the years thereafter. This was also seen in the development of furniture. Chair Babor is a good example of this period. It is a so called cocktail/club chair from the fifties/sixties. It is a small chair with a characteristic round back. This type of chair was used for drinking cocktails. Izel is covered with a deep blue velvet fabric from the French brand Pierre Frey. An embroidered stripfrom Uzbekistan has been attached to the back of the chair. This strip is a good example of specialized and detailed embroidery. An unbelievable amount of time and care goes into the making of such embroidered pieces of cloth.
